What i wore this week: the poster-cover outfit carousel

The weekly outfit recap with a mirror-selfie cover and a huge title in the colour of your shirt. Same mirror, same angle, five fits. · 2 min read

The outfit recap has been around forever. What's new is the cover: a mirror selfie with the title stacked huge in the colour of your shirt — what / i wore / this week — and a small italic 'mon – fri' bottom-right. Then one fit per page, same mirror, same angle, no text. The format is everywhere right now.

Why it works

A weekly format is boring by design, so the cover does the heavy lifting: oversized rounded type in one colour from the outfit gives it a poster-grade first frame, and because the colour comes from your clothes it looks like you, not a template. The sameness of the pages — same mirror, same light, same crop — is the real hook. Once people spot the pattern they swipe to the end.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Pick the mirror on monday and don't move it. Mark where you stand. Shoes in frame every time.
  2. Shoot one full-length selfie a day, portrait, phone up. Face in or hidden behind the phone.
  3. For the cover, pick the fit you're proudest of. Open it in the Instagram text tool or your editor and choose the rounded sans (SF Rounded on iPhone, or the rounded grotesk your editor has). No serif, no script.
  4. Type lowercase, stacked: what / i wore / this week. Go huge — the word 'what' should run most of the width. Put the stack on the empty side of the mirror, not across the outfit.
  5. Eyedropper one colour from the clothes — shirt, bag, a shoe. Every line the same colour. No outline, no drop shadow.
  6. Tiny italic bottom-right: 'mon – fri'. Small, like a signature.
  7. Slides 2–5: monday to friday, or your best four, no text, identical crop and light. If one photo is warmer, fix that one rather than filtering all five.
  8. Caption: 'what i wore this week — rate them 1–5'. Ask which one to repeat.

Make it yours

The rule holds: one mirror, one colour, a sub-line that says which week.
